健三 山形 (Kenzo Yamagata)

Bike Gang Leader & Punk

Description:

Description

健三 山形 (Kenzo Yamagata) is 5’10" and roughly 180lb. His build is wiry and strong in a very lean way that misleads the viewer. He dresses somewhere between the street ganger punk and glam rock with shades, leathers, led-impregnated scarves, and bioluminescent slogans, patches, and stickers.

Bio:

Background

Kenzo Yamagata was born and raised an orphan, abandoned by his mother during the chaos of the Crash of ’29 and never registered with a SIN. After formative years bouncing between orphanges, he escaped to a boarding room he paid for with street jobs while attending primary school. At a young age, he fell in with a variety of the illegal elements of metahumanity. He became part of the underculture of sub-Tokyo as early as 12, falling in with an illegal salvage and repair yard in an unused portion of utility tunnel.

He would steal his first bike at 14, his friends, including Shigeru, the son of the repair yard owner, in the undercity. becoming an impromptu go-gang over the next several years. By 18, he was dealing low-level drugs, mostly stimulants and pills, and narrowly avoiding the metro police force while fighting other go-gangs in and below the city. Kenzo got heavily involved in syndicate underground racing. Quietly, on the side, he was amassing a small fortune in nuyen, customizing his bike, and tweaking his reactions to the limit with the hottest cyberware he could get from a black market doc and more than a few pills. To keep control of his heavily customized bike and protect his investment, the doc took care of some “enhancements” to his already resilient skeletal structure and body as well.

Sticking it to the (salary)man had never been better.

Until, at 20, his best friend Shigeru disappeared. Kenzo and his gang pulled every informant, broke skulls, and traded favors until they got a clue that led them to the source. Shigeru had vanished near the old under-highway that ran near a Yamatetsu proving ground. Kenzo dug deeper, breaking into the world of the shadowrunners for the first time. He made unlikely allies in a few of them, and managed to scrape enough to get a run together on their best guess at Shigeru; Facility 431.

Two of the five of them died just getting into the complex. Another one died getting into the records servers, his mind fragged by lethal biofeedback. Kenzo got out alive, finding out only that Shigeru was now considered “Subject #024189B” and had manifested some kind of valuable magical talent that made him unique… and worthy of experimentation.

The last surviving member of the team, a human mage named Daisuke Isamu, got out with Kenzo alive. The two both knew that Yamatetsu would be looking for them, and not in a friendly way. His resources exhausted, his gang scattered and in hiding, Kenzo fled Neo-Tokyo and the JIS for UCAS, finally fleeing further to Seattle.

With his funds reduced, his bike gone, and uncertain of what to do, Kenzo turned to the Shadowrunners of Seattle to try to find new footing. But the questions he won’t confront continue to haunt him: Will he leave Shigeru to his fate forever? Is Shigeru even still alive?

Perhaps money, connections, and time will allow Kenzo to confront demons inside and out.
